General Questions

1. What third-party VESA mounts can I use my Lilitab with?
The Lilitab can be used with any third-party VESA mount that accepts a 100mm or 75mm mount pattern. You may have to use an adapter or stand-offs supplied with the VESA mount to allow your USB cable to exit the back of the Lilitab enclosure. If the third-party VESA mount does not come with them you can contact Lilitab support for help on how to accomplish this.

Because the mount screws on your third-party VESA mount will be accessible to the public on the rear of the VESA mount we advise using security screws to enhance your Lilitab's theft resistance.

In addition you will need to provide a method for securely routing the USB cable to a wall power outlet. Some third-party VESA mounts have built-in cable routing features which will help get your USB cable to the power adapter that came with your tablet computer. Care should be paid to how the power adapter is secured as this may introduce an opportunity for unauthorized users to access the tablet computer via the exposed USB port.

The Lilitab mount products (Lilitab Standard and Lilitab Surface) do not have any exposed mount screws and encapsulate the power adapter restricting access to the USB cable; consequently they are inherently a more secure option for mounting your Lilitab. Please see the web-site for details.

2. How can I mount my Lilitab flat to a wall?
We recommend you use a Chief FSR-V mount, available online for @$25. The mount accepts a small pad-lock to prevent unauthorized removal of your Lilitab and has a quick disconnect feature to allow tool-less removal of the Lilitab when needed.

Lilitab SWIPE Questions

1. How do I setup Lilitab SWIPE so that it connects to my merchant account?
This will depend on whether you use a custom iOS app or a web site interface. For a custom app, your app developer will construct the code so that it interacts with your merchant processor based on a specific set of requirements provided for Card Present processing. If you are using a web site interface, your web programmer will need to modify your site to work with the Lilitab SWIPE.

2. How do I setup my Lilitab SWIPE to allow customers to make purchases from my web-site?
Your web programmer will need to modify your site to properly use the data that comes from the Lilitab SWIPE card reader. Most web sites are set up to allow entry of a credit card number, exp date, etc., when processing CARD NOT PRESENT transactions. If you wish to use the Lilitab SWIPE to work this way, your programmer will need to write server side code to parse the string from the Lilitab SWIPE to extract this information and place it into the proper fields.

If your site processes CARD PRESENT transactions with an existing USB card reader then how you use the Lilitab SWIPE will depend on your site's particular implementation. The Lilitab SWIPE sends data in the format T1,<err>,<track 1="" data=""></track>. T1 indicates that this is track 1. Future versions may provide additional tracks. <err> is a code that tells you whether the swipe was good or bad, and is the actual data from the card up to 79 characters in length. Most merchant processors require that this complete string be sent to their gateway. You web site code will need to check the error code and extract the track 1 data to send it to your merchant processor's gateway.

A couple of notes here. The web-based Lilitab SWIPE sends an ascii string of characters read from the card (including the addition prefix metadata) just as a low-cost, off the shelf, USB card reader would do. The way this works is that a merchant selects the field on the web site where the data is supposed to go. Typically this is a password-protected field where the card track data goes. The Lilitab SWIPE works the same way. Your web-site will require a "container field" that you will tap into before swiping the card. Tapping the field makes the iPad ready to receive ascii data from the card. So, you tap the field, swipe the card, and the complete data from the card AS WELL AS the prefix data mentioned above is put into that field. Your web programmer will need to parse the data in that field to verify a good read, and then extract just the track 1 data to send to your merchant processor's gateway. Some merchant processors may also require even more be done. For example, Authorize.Net sometimes requires that you remove the start and end sentinels from the track data. Other processors require that the sentinels remain. Check with your web programmer and/or your merchant processor information to be sure.

3. What track information does Lilitab SWIPE read?
The Lilitab w/ swipe reads all track 1 data, including the start and end sentinels and passes them across. Additional header information that includes the track number (T1) and error status information is sent before the track 1 data in a comma delimited manner.

4. Can Lilitab SWIPE read non credit-card mag-stripes such as DMV licenses, customer loyalty cards et. al.?
Yes, provided the data is located on track 1. As with any web-based application that uses the Lilitab SWIPE, your web programmer will need to create code to properly extract the track 1 data from the composite string sent over as well as parse the content of the track 1 data itself to get the particular information you required.

5. Can I use Lilitab SWIPE with my own custom iPad app?
Yes, in fact, a custom app may provide a better user experience than a web-based approach. You will need to purchase the Lilitab SDK, contact info@lilitab.com.au for more information.
